Description

The WD-repeat proteins are found in all eukaryotes and are implicated in a wide variety of crucial functions.
WD proteins are made up of highly conserved repeating units usually ending with Trp-Asp (WD). The domain folds into a beta propeller; and the domains form a platform without any catalytic activity on which multiple protein complexes assemble reversibly. WD-repeat proteins regulate cellular functions, such as cell division, cell-fate determination, gene transcription, transmembrane signalling, mRNA modification and vesicle fusion.
